The Disappearance of Saniyah Tucker

On the morning of Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Saniyah Tucker was captured on surveillance footage at the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Chelten Avenue in Philadelphia at 6:39 a.m. She was 16 years old. She was wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt, gray pants, and white/gray Nike Dunks. That image — a teenager on a city street before 7 a.m. — is the last confirmed record of where she was. After that, she vanished.

The Philadelphia Police Department's 35th District, which covers Northwest Philadelphia including the Germantown neighborhood where she was last seen, issued a public missing juvenile alert. The case was assigned to Northwest Detectives. Beyond her physical description, her last known location, and the time stamp on the surveillance footage, authorities have released no further details about the circumstances of her disappearance, her background, or what may have happened.

The PPD blotter page for Saniyah's case has not been updated with a "located" notification — a standard posting that Philadelphia police make when a missing juvenile is found. As of this writing, Saniyah Tucker remains unaccounted for. No arrests have been made and no person of interest has been named publicly.

The Philadelphia Police Department's Northwest Detectives division is handling Saniyah Tucker's case. The 35th District covers the Germantown, West Oak Lane, and East Oak Lane neighborhoods — an area of Northwest Philadelphia where Saniyah was last seen on Germantown Avenue, one of the neighborhood's main commercial corridors. The intersection of Germantown and Chelten is a busy transit and commercial hub, and the presence of surveillance footage indicates cameras in the area were operational that morning.

Beyond the initial public alert, Philadelphia police have not released any additional details about the investigation, any leads followed, any persons of interest, or what may have caused Saniyah to go missing. Philadelphia sees a disproportionate number of missing juvenile cases involving Black girls and young women — many of which receive limited media coverage and limited follow-up from authorities. Saniyah's case received no sustained press attention beyond the initial PPD blotter post and a single Hoodline community article. She deserves to be found, and anyone who knows something should say something.

If you were in or near the Germantown Avenue and Chelten Avenue area on the morning of October 23, 2024, or if you have seen or heard from Saniyah Tucker since, please contact Northwest Detectives. Anonymous tips are accepted.

Saniyah Tucker was 16 years old. She walked through Germantown on a Wednesday morning and disappeared. We do not know much about her — authorities have released very little — but we know she was a teenager, and she was somebody's person, and she has not been found.

Black girls go missing from Philadelphia at a rate that does not match the attention they receive. Saniyah Tucker's case received one police blotter post and one community article. That is not enough. Her name belongs here, and it belongs in the conversation about which missing people get resources, which get press, and which get silence.

If you know where Saniyah is, or if you saw something on Germantown Avenue on the morning of October 23, 2024, please call Northwest Detectives. She is not forgotten here.
