Heaven Desiree McGee was a 21-year-old woman from Oakland, California. She was the only child of her mother, Tamisha, who described her as a genuine person who would never leave her family. Heaven was known to frequent the Stockton and Lathrop areas of San Joaquin County, as well as Oakland and San Jose.
The last time her mother saw her was January 17, 2025, in Oakland. Three days later, on January 20, Heaven was spotted on a commercial corridor in Stockton. That was the last confirmed sighting of her. Various sources indicate the area where she was last seen is known to law enforcement as a location where exploitation of vulnerable people occurs. Tamisha reported her daughter missing to the Oakland Police Department on January 26, 2025.
Heaven has several identifying tattoos, including the words "Aaron Pryor" above a red rose below her left collarbone, at least four butterfly tattoos across her chest and sternum, possible Chinese characters on her left forearm, and the name "Darius III" on her right posterior forearm. She also has unknown words tattooed above both collarbones.
Heaven Desiree McGee was last seen by her mother on January 17, 2025, in Oakland, California. Three days later, on January 20, she was spotted on a commercial corridor in Stockton, California. That sighting was the last confirmed contact with her. She has not been seen or heard from by her family, friends, or law enforcement since. Her mother reported her missing to the Oakland Police Department on January 26, 2025.
The Oakland Police Department and the FBI San Francisco Field Office launched a joint investigation. Searches were conducted across Oakland, San Joaquin County, and Solano County, guided by cell phone data and other investigative leads. Despite extensive efforts, no additional confirmed sightings have been obtained. The Black and Missing Foundation Inc. publicized Heaven's case nationally, and the Oakland Police Department was named the foundation's Law Enforcement Partner of the Year in connection with their work on this investigation.
In June 2025, FBI Special Agent in Charge Sanjay Virmani announced that based on evidence gathered in the case, the FBI believes Heaven was a victim of human trafficking and that this is the reason she was in the Stockton area at the time of her disappearance. No additional details about the nature of that evidence were released due to the ongoing investigation. Oakland Detective Bradley Sides stated investigators believe someone in the Stockton area saw something and urged the public to come forward with any information, however small.
The Oakland Police Department and the FBI San Francisco Field Office have conducted a joint investigation into Heaven's disappearance since January 2025. Investigators followed cell phone data and conducted searches in Oakland, San Joaquin County, and Solano County. Despite the searches, no confirmed additional sightings or physical evidence locating Heaven have been publicly reported. The case was also publicized by the national Black and Missing Foundation Inc., which works to raise awareness of missing Black women and girls whose cases receive disproportionately less media attention.
The FBI's public designation of Heaven as a suspected human trafficking victim places her case under federal jurisdiction and brings additional investigative resources. Investigators have not publicly disclosed the specific evidence that led to the trafficking conclusion, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. The commercial corridor in Stockton where Heaven was last seen is an area that Oakland and Stockton law enforcement have identified as a location where human trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable people occurs.
Oakland Deputy Chief Nicholas Calonge stated that Oakland police have not given up on Heaven's case and will follow any lead to bring her home. The $10,000 FBI reward remains active. Heaven is listed on the FBI's official wanted and missing persons page.
The FBI and Oakland Police Department are asking anyone with any information, no matter how small, to come forward. If you saw Heaven in Stockton on or around January 20, 2025, or have any information about her whereabouts since, investigators want to hear from you. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her location.
Heaven Desiree McGee has been missing for over a year. Her mother Tamisha has not stopped looking for her. On the one-year anniversary of her disappearance, the family walked the streets of Oakland, posting flyers and knocking on doors, refusing to let Heaven become a name that people forget. Her aunt said Heaven is a fighter and the family believes she is still out there.
Heaven's case is part of a much larger pattern. Black women and girls who go missing in the United States are consistently underrepresented in media coverage and underprioritized in investigative resources. The Black and Missing Foundation exists precisely because of this gap, and their work on Heaven's case, alongside the dedication of the Oakland Police Department and the FBI, reflects what it takes to keep a missing person visible when the world might otherwise move on.
Heaven was a genuine person. She was someone's only child. She had a name and a mother who loves her and a community that has not stopped saying her name. If you know something, please come forward.
