Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers was 15 years old and lived with his mother, Katie Proudfoot, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He had been diagnosed with autism and had medical conditions that, according to law enforcement, may impair his ability to return home safely without assistance. His father, Seth Rogers, described him as a bright light, fun, and energetic, with a mischievous side like any kid. He had ties to Clarksville, Tennessee in addition to Hendersonville.
On the evening of February 25, 2024, Sebastian spent the day with his mother. The two went shopping at a department store, played video games at a bowling alley, and had dinner at a local restaurant before returning home. He got ready for bed around 9:00 p.m., said goodnight to his mother and his two dogs, and went to his room. Around 10:00 p.m., Katie heard a loud noise from Sebastian's room and called out to him. He answered and said he was fine. She told him to get to sleep and went to bed herself. When she went to wake him for school the next morning at 6:00 a.m., his room was empty.
Sebastian left without his phone, shoes, money, food, or any clothing. The only item reported missing from the home was a small yellow flashlight. His father has stated that Sebastian did not like to go barefoot after an incident in childhood, making the absence of shoes particularly alarming. Sebastian would be 17 years old today. He has not been found.
Sebastian Rogers was last seen by his mother on the evening of February 25, 2024, in their home on Stafford Court in Hendersonville, Tennessee. After a normal day together, Sebastian said goodnight around 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. and went to his room. Around 10:00 p.m. Katie heard a noise from his room, called out, and he responded that he was fine. She went to bed. The following morning at 6:00 a.m. she found his room empty. She searched the house, then called authorities. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Endangered Child Alert that morning. The following day, on February 27, based on additional investigative information, the TBI upgraded the alert to an Amber Alert, indicating a reasonable belief that an abduction had occurred and that Sebastian was in imminent danger.
Sebastian left without his phone, shoes, clothing, money, or food. Only a small yellow flashlight was reported missing. Search dogs were unable to pick up a scent trail. A pond near the family home was drained and found nothing. Security footage from outside the Proudfoot home appeared to show lights moving around 3:00 a.m. the night Sebastian disappeared, but law enforcement later investigated the footage and determined it was not relevant to the case. A separate video obtained by a private investigator showed a person in dark clothing in Sebastian's neighborhood around 12:17 a.m., but the Sumner County Sheriff's Office stated they had possessed the original footage within 72 hours of Sebastian being reported missing and determined it had no relevance to the case.
A search of a landfill in White Plains, Kentucky, where trash from Sebastian's neighborhood was taken, was conducted as a precaution in March 2024 but found nothing. Hundreds of tips have been received and followed up on by investigators, with the vast majority cleared as either irrelevant or producing no results. No confirmed sightings of Sebastian have been established. Law enforcement has not publicly identified any persons of interest or confirmed foul play, though the issuance of an Amber Alert indicated investigators believed an abduction may have occurred.
Sebastian and his mother Katie spent the day together shopping, playing video games at a bowling alley, and having dinner. After returning home, Sebastian got ready for bed around 9:00 p.m. and said goodnight to his mother and his dogs. Around 10:00 p.m. Katie heard a noise from his room, called out to him, and he answered that he was fine.
Katie went to wake Sebastian for school and found his room empty. After searching the house, she called authorities. The TBI issued an Endangered Child Alert. More than 200 searchers, K-9 units, mounted officers, drones, and helicopters were deployed in the area around the home.
Based on additional investigative information, the TBI upgraded the alert to a full Amber Alert, indicating law enforcement's reasonable belief that an abduction had occurred and that Sebastian was in imminent danger. Police also played Sebastian's favorite song, "Eye of the Tiger," during searches to try to draw him out.
A pond near the Rogers home was drained and found nothing. Search dogs had not been able to pick up a scent trail. On March 4, authorities announced the ground search was being scaled back, though the investigation would continue. The total search effort covered a 4.5-mile radius, 44,000 acres, and involved roughly 2,000 searchers over eight days.
Authorities searched a landfill in White Plains, Kentucky, where trash from Sebastian's neighborhood was collected. The search was described as a precaution with no specific evidence directing it. Nothing relevant was found.
The FBI published a full account of the investigation and renewed its public call for tips. Agents confirmed all hundreds of tips received had been followed up on, with the vast majority cleared as irrelevant. Two circulating theories, including the flashlight footage and the person in a green hoodie, were officially disproven. The FBI reward of $50,000 for information leading to Sebastian's whereabouts or to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his disappearance remained active.
On the two-year anniversary of Sebastian's disappearance, protests were held in Hendersonville. The Sumner County Sheriff's Office confirmed the investigation remains active and ongoing in coordination with the TBI and FBI. Sebastian has never been removed from missing person databases. His father Seth publicly called for greater FBI involvement and demanded more direct communication from the sheriff's office. Sebastian would be 17 years old. He has not been found.
The Sumner County Sheriff's Office leads the investigation with active coordination from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the FBI. The initial search was one of the largest in the region's history, covering 44,000 acres with roughly 2,000 searchers, K-9 units, drones, helicopters, mounted patrols, ATVs, underwater search equipment, and specialists. Despite the scale of the effort, no physical trace of Sebastian was found and no scent trail was established by search dogs.
Law enforcement has reviewed hundreds of tips, checked neighborhood surveillance footage extensively, searched a local pond and a Kentucky landfill, and investigated multiple circulating theories. Two of the most widely shared theories, one involving security footage appearing to show lights outside the home the night Sebastian disappeared, and one involving a person in a green hoodie, were officially disproven by the FBI in September 2025. A private investigator hired separately identified additional surveillance footage of a person in dark clothing in Sebastian's neighborhood around 12:17 a.m. the night of his disappearance, but the sheriff's office confirmed they had already possessed and reviewed that footage within 72 hours and determined it was not relevant to the case.
The case remains classified as an active investigation. No persons of interest have been publicly identified. Law enforcement has not confirmed or ruled out foul play publicly, though the issuance of an Amber Alert on February 27, 2024 indicated investigators believed at that time that an abduction may have occurred. The sheriff's office has stated that significant investigative work continues behind the scenes that cannot be disclosed without risking the integrity of the investigation.
If you believe you see Sebastian, call 911 immediately. Law enforcement asks that tips be submitted promptly and directly to the appropriate agency. Do not wait. The sheriff has said that immediate tips on potential sightings give investigators the best chance of following a live lead. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Sebastian's whereabouts or to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for his disappearance.
Sebastian Rogers was 15 years old. He said goodnight to his mother and his dogs and went to his room. His mother heard him answer her when she called out at 10:00 p.m. and she went to sleep believing everything was fine. That was the last time anyone heard from him. In the morning, he was gone, and no search of 44,000 acres, no K-9 unit, no drone, no tip, no pond, no landfill, no surveillance footage has brought him back.
His father Seth has not stopped looking. He has spoken publicly at every anniversary, asked questions of every agency, pushed for more FBI involvement, and refused to let Sebastian become a case that people stop thinking about. His mother Katie has described a gaping hole in her heart. Sebastian turned 17 in December 2025. His birthdays have come and gone without him.
Sebastian's case has sparked ongoing community advocacy, annual gatherings, and protests in Hendersonville. People who have never met him carry his face on flyers and share his photo online because that is what it takes to keep a missing child visible two years in. If you know something, please say something. Sebastian Rogers deserves to come home.
